The Reason We Like Sad Movies is . . . They Make Us Happier?

Believe it or not, when you watch a sad movie, it actually leaves you feeling HAPPIER. NOT because you're a horrible person who gets off on watching other people's misery. Researchers at Ohio State found that when we see tragedies in movies, it makes us reflect on our own relationships and think about how lucky we are. So once the movie's over, we actually leave happier.

Some of our recommendations to get you on the Sad/Happy track… I am Sam (Trace’s Pick), Titanic (Nancy’s Pick), The Notebook, Ol Yeller, Marley & Me. BUT, According to the experts the most reliable tearjerker of all time is 1979's 'The Champ,' in which washed-up boxer Jon Voight returns to the ring in order to earn enough to retain custody of his son, Ricky Schroder. Particularly, the climactic scene where -- the little boy watches his battered dad die . It's a moment that makes Schroder and the hardened old men in the scene all bawl their eyes out, and it's all but guaranteed to do the same to you.
Enjoy!
